Teacher Appreciation Week is May 8-12, 2023

WHAT IS TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK?

Eleanor Roosevelt initiated National Teacher Appreciation Week in 1953 to recognize and honor the significant contributions of teachers to our society. This week-long celebration serves as a reminder of the vital role teachers play in shaping the future generation. Since 1984, the National PTA (Parent Teacher Association) has designated a full week during the public school year to honor the men and women who lend their passion, skills, hard work, and dedication to educating our children.

Hopefully, we all have a teacher that stands out in our memory, one who went the extra mile, who made learning interesting, who took the time to notice you when you where struggling. This week is a time to honor those teachers, the ones who shine a little brighter and shared their spark with their students.

Thank you, to all the educators out there. We know your job is hard and doesn’t always feel rewarding and we appreciate all that you do.

Coconut Lime Lip Balm

Making your own lip balm is easy and rewarding. Reminiscent of tropical beaches, this blend is perfect for warmer weather or for those who prefer a lightweight and glossy lip balm.

Ingredients:

1 Tbsp + 1 tsp beeswax
2 Tbsp organic sunflower oil
1 Tbsp organic unrefined coconut oil
15 drops organic lime peel essential oil
a few drops of non-GMO vitamin E oil (optional, but recommended)

Instructions:

Coarsely chop the beeswax or use beeswax pastilles.
Place beeswax, sunflower oil and coconut oil in a small pot or glass measuring cup and gently heat in the top of a double-boiler until the beeswax and oils have melted.
Once melted, remove from stovetop and add essential oils and vitamin E oil.
Immediately pour the mixture into clear or white lip balm containers. You can also purchase tins or glass jars. Allow to cool completely before placing caps onto the lip balm containers.
Your lip balm is finished! You can now add labels, ribbons, twine, or any other decorative elements. Makes approximately 1.5 oz. of lip balm, enough to fill 10 lip balm tubes, 6 of our 1/4-oz. plastic jars, or 3 1/2-oz. tins or plastic jars.
